Part of the "Inspired by…" series, the Albert's Day Bracelet is inspired by Benjamin Britten’s comic opera Albert Herring.

Poor Albert lives life under the thumb of his controlling mother. Being crowned king of the May as the town’s only virgin is the ultimate humiliation, but the prize that comes with the "honor" gives him his first youthful taste of independence and freedom. I don't know about you, but I find his small individual triumph a joyful opera moment!

I chose clear, white and iridescent beads to evoke Albert's white suit as he becomes King of the May. Pale yellow beads and a lemonade charm symbolizes the spiked drink which gives him courage. A wreath charm is his flower wreath. The coin indicates the reward he receives which gives him his wild night of freedom.

All "Inspired By..." Series Bracelets come with a card that identifies the symbolism of the charms and colors used.
