Troubadour knight Manrico loves Leonora. Count Di Luna loves Leonora. Leonora loves only Manrico. Each bead and charm of the Il Trovatore Opera Bracelet represents a character or moment from the work. Some of the most important beads and charms are described below and you can see all of the symbolic descriptions on the spiral chart photo above or to the left. - Ferrando, witness to events and teller of “the tale” is a grey cat's eye bead. (Ferrando means grey)
- Di Luna whose name means "of the moon" is a white faceted bead while his lost brother Manrico, described as a knight in black, is a faceted black bead.
- Azucena, whose name means Lily, is a red bead with a white flower; a smaller identical bead represents her child.
- A black flower bead symbolizes the old gypsy, Azucena’s mother (wrongly executed), who’s cry for vengeance moves the plot of Il Trovatore.
- A black disc represents the cry for and culmination of Azucena’s vengeance.
- Leonora whose name means light is a luminous gold bead.
- Bright red crystals symbolize the fatal fire so crucial to the story’s action
- Green double cones are the jealousy between Manrico and Di Luna
- An iridescent green twisted bead is the poison that will kill Leonora (spoilers).
- Colorful turquoise millefiore beads and a hammer and goblet charm evoke the anvil chorus and its words: "Lift up your hammers... Fill up the goblets"!
- A large blue heart is the love of Leonora for Manrico, echoed by smaller blue hearts symbolizing her faithfulness. A large faceted blue teardrop represents her death.

- An angel wing indicates Leonora’s assumption that Manrico has come from heaven to save her at the convent
- A ring charm with a green stone is the poison that will claim Leonora’s life.
