A bracelet tells the story of The Phantom of the Opera?

A bracelet tells the story of The Phantom of the Opera?

Posted by Cindy Battisti on 11 07 2015

Way back, probably in the early 90s, I heard Andrew Lloyd Weber interviewed on the radio. He was talking about how at one point, he had decided not to use Gaston Leroux’s novel, The Phantom of the Opera, for his new musical. Having told this to a friend of his, their response to him was something like: "Are you crazy, it’s the most romantic story ever written!?"

Obviously, Sir Andrew changed his mind, but his friend’s comment stayed with me and I set out to read that book. While I’m not sure it’s the most romantic story ever written, it opened up a whole world of opera to me and made me want to learn more about it. That book is the basis for the Phantom of the Opera Bracelet. Many people requested Phantom of the Opera as a bracelet subject, saying things like “How can you NOT have a Phantom of the Opera Bracelet?” . So between these comments and my love for that book, I was happy to oblige with this bracelet from our Literature Collection.

Beautiful Bracelet-Amazing Customer Service!5 days after my order was shipped (3 days before Christmas Eve), I received an e-mail from Cindy saying that as she was reviewing her orders and noticed my order seemed to have not moved from the post office. She told me that she was sending another Phantom bracelet by Express Mail immediately because she didn't want anyone to be disappointed over the holidays. I ended up receiving both packages 2 days later! This was the best customer service I think I have ever received. Cindy was more concerned with my order than I was, and she contacted me first. The bracelet is beautiful, and my daughter loves it! Thank you, Cindy!

Young Viscount Raoul loves childhood sweetheart Christine. Raoul is a faceted gold bead indicating his status as an aristocrat. Christine is a clear bead representing her innocence and naivety. A small pink heart is their youthful romantic love.

Christine triumphs singing Marguerite in Faust! A bead with floating roses symbolizes the flowers showered upon a triumphant soprano.

Christine’s success is the result of her vocal training by a disembodied voice which she knows only as the Angel of Music. The voice is in love with her. A cat's eye bead symbolizes the Phantom/Angel who sees everything that happens in his realm. An angel wing charm is his identity as the Angel of Music. A red heart is his love for Christine.

Phantastic! - This bracelet is absolutely stunning. It's a very unique addition to my collection. Couldn't be happier with it! - Denise

The Phantom’s realm is the Palais Garnier. Sparkling crystals with deep red and gold beads symbolize the décor of the famous Paris Opera House.

The new opera managers think the “Opera Ghost” is a joke, but when his demands are not met, the massive chandelier crashes to the opera house floor mid-performance. A disc of crackled clear glass and chandelier charm evoke the disastrous moment.

A Unique and Memorable Gift - "Although this is a Christmas gift, I know what the reaction will be. My wife "wished" for the bracelet, based on her love and the compliments received on your Les Mis bracelet, a gift for her last birthday. Thank you for your product and the nice treats you included with the bracelet. I am looking forward to my wife's pleasure on Christmas Morning!" - Mike

In the ensuing chaos Christine is abducted- through her mirror. A faceted chrome finish bead represents the spinning mirror effect.

She is taken down through the basements of the labyrinthine building and finally ferried (rowboat charm) across the lake (blue beads) at the foundations into the lair of an unknown masked man which she now realizes is the voice!

Christine is enraptured by the Phantom/Erik’s beautiful singing voice. A music note symbolizes this moment along with a dark bead that sparkles in the light to represent the magical qualities of his voice.

She is unable to resist the temptation to reveal his identity. Christine rips away Erik’s mask (mask charm) revealing his horrifying deformity. Leroux is very detailed in his description of Erik as having a face like a death's head and glow-in-the-dark golden eyes. Skull beads with a gold finish represent this sad state.

He vows she can never leave now that she has seen him. Over time, she convinces him she loves him. He allows her to come and go- his infatuation increases. (small to larger red heart bead)

The strange circumstances surrounding Christine bewilder Raoul. (Question mark bead) One day on the roof of the opera beneath the famous statue of Apollo's Lyre, she tells him the ghastly truth about Erik and his hold over her.

Lovely! - "I simply looooooove this bracelet. Phantom of the Opera is one of my favorite Broadway shows and I love that I can now wear its story on my wrist. Thanks for the work of art." - Gina

The pair reaffirm their love for one another (red heart between Christine and Raoul beads.

Overhearing that Christine doesn't really love him and plans to elope with Raoul, Erik is heartbroken and furious: he abducts Christine from a performance. A dark heart bead indicates the dark turn that Erik’s love has taken.

The Persian, who knows Erik of old, helps Raoul rescue Christine. A glass turquoise bead symbolizes the Persian (as one of the precious stones found in Persia).

Beneath Erik's hidden house they discover huge quantities of gun powder. Black oval beads symbolize the barrels.

Erik invites Christine to turn the scorpion to signify she will marry him, or the grasshopper to refuse. The Persian warns her that refusal will detonate the crowded opera house. A large double cone bead symbolizes the decision/being pulled in two directions.

Christine turns the scorpion flooding the gunpowder. (Large blue droplet)

She allows Erik to kiss her and kisses him in return, weeping for his sad life. A red heart is her kiss, a blue teardrop bead, her tears.

Beautiful! - Loved this Phantom bracelet for my daughter at Christmas when I first saw it. Ordered it. Was so happy when it arrived! Pictures don't do this piece justice! Thoughtfully made. Lovely craftsmanship. Timely shipping. Payment a breeze. Everything about this process and this product was perfection. Thank you! - Kristine

His heart is transformed and he releases Christine to marry Raoul. (Large swirly heart bead)

Christine and Raoul are united in love...

Overcome by emotion, Erik dies of a broken heart. A red heart made of crackled glass indicates the final tragic end of the Phantom’s story.
