The Casta Diva Bracelet is inspired by the character of Norma from Bellini's opera. The druids seek war against the invading Romans, but priestess Norma, secretly in love with the Roman proconsul, Pollione, prays for peace.
A tree charm evokes the sacred grove. A crescent moon symbolizes the moon goddess Norma prays to for peace and the safety of her love. A mistletoe charm represents Norma's duty as priestess to cut mistletoe from the sacred oak tree.
I chose opalescent beads to evoke the silvery moonlight. Glass flowers and leaves indicate the verbena flowers Norma is described as wearing. Tiny pearls with green beads indicate mistletoe.
All "Inspired By..." Series Bracelets come with a card that identifies the symbolism of the charms and colors used.
