So lovely and feminine, I love wearing it! All these bracelets are so lovely, and look wonderful on! As one of my first operas, Butterfly will always have special meaning to me. Thanks to your creativity and talent, I have a great way to remember it!
Part of the "Inspired by…" series, the Un bel dì Bracelet is inspired by the tragic character of Cio Cio San from Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.
Former geisha Butterfly has faith that her love will return. She sings of how she will see him returning to her from afar. We want to believe with her and knowing we cannot is all the more heartbreaking.
Blue and pink beads evoke Butterfly's view of the harbor framed by her blossoming cherry trees. Glass hearts, flowers and butterflies further symbolize her gathering of flowers to fill the house when she hears her love is near. Charms include Butterfly (geisha) and Pinkerton's ship. A heart charm framed with a tiny growing dot symbolizes Butterfly's vision of watching Pinkerton walking to her from the harbor growing ever larger as he draws near.
All "Inspired By..." Series Bracelets come with a card that identifies the symbolism of the charms and colors used.
I purchased this item for my 85 year old mother who has sung this piece of music many times as a young woman. She also worked with me on preparing to sing this amazing piece of music. When she opened the box she was overwhelmed and was brought to tears! It was one of the sweetest gifts she received this year!
