I have a weakness for this work by Wagner - you can see and hear the ocean waves in his music! These rich blue beads and the carefully chosen charms evoke the legend and the music wonderfully. It also reminds me of the movie "Pandora and the Flying Dutchman" with Ava Gardner and James Mason - a gorgeous film.
Inspired by the character of Senta from Wagner's romance, The Flying Dutchman. Senta knows that she is the one to free the Dutchman from his curse with her faithful love. She proves this by sacrificing herself to the waves to be united with him in eternity breaking the spell.
Deep blue and purplescent beads evoke sunlight on the ocean after a storm. Glass pearls and pewter sand dollars further the sea theme. A heart with swirling waves symbolizes Senta's love. A ships wheel is the Dutchman and his curse to sail the world until a faithful woman frees him. A wave charm indicates the uniting of Senta and the Dutchman through her leaping into the swirling sea.
All "Inspired By..." Series Bracelets come with a card that identifies the symbolism of the charms and colors used.
Just received this oh so beautiful bracelet. The gorgeous blue and purplescent beads really do remind one of the sea and the Flying Dutchman - they gleam actually like moonlight on the water - and the charms really stand out. Am keeping this one for me! as I've just purchased a lovely silk lapis blue top which will go so perfectly with the bracelet. You do wonderful work Cindy - thank you and I can't wait to wear it out - may be a while because we are all confined to our homes in Australia at present...
